This is disturbing. Not merely disturbing in its brutality, but disturbing in the way the news media covered both these events. Many of us will not even have heard of the 12 year old boy beheaded by US backed "moderate" Free Syrian Army forces ("we are worse than ISIS" they say) fighting Assad alongside the likes of Al-Nusra and the Islamic State. Most of us have heard about the little boy on the left who was injured in Syrian government shelling though.
This fascinating video explores why that may be. Of special interest to me is the close relationship that the AFP photographer - who took the famous images of the boy in the back of the Ambulance - has with the CIA backed fighters who beheaded the child in the back of the ute. Quite a revelation. This is a despicable man who uses images and gullible media outlets for propaganda purposes. This happens a lot in Palestine with many news outlets depending upon anti-Israeli Arab reporters and photographers (also remember the infiltration of at least one humanitarian NGO). Now we see it happening in Syria.
Seven minutes, no graphic, gory content but disturbing in a different way. The lady who posted the video makes some uncomfortable and challenging statements. Maybe she actually goes too far in her claims? They are points worth pondering in any event. Who chooses the personnel? Who decides what stories are featured and why?
