Dr Bill Warner from the Centre for the Study of Political Islam produces this very useful 30 minute video on the Islamic concept of hijra, or migration for the sake of extending Islam. Consider this in the light of the current migrant crisis and please see my previous post here concerning a top Middle Eastern Bishop's similar warnings.
It is fascinating that Warner, as a practising Buddhist, criticises the Christian church for not studying its own history of persecution under Islam and for not defending persecuted Christians today (also see my previous post here).
This video is an excellent general introduction to Islamic history and sources of doctrine. Being a physicist, Warner goes into the numbers very well. His explanation that there are "two Islams" is useful (see my previous post on Abrogation) and I love his stated emphasis: "I do not discuss Muslims I discuss Islam".
When he says "most Muslims are quite nice but the doctrine of jihad lurks within the corner of their heart" he is I think referring to the influence of the various kinds of jihad. Only one of which involves physical fighting. Others include jihad of the pen, jihad through speech and jihad using money. I take his statement to mean that all Muslims, to some extent or another, wish to see Islam advance and therefore engage in various kinds of struggles to promote it. I don't believe, and neither does Warner, that all Muslims are evil people.
Let there be no confusion. Our problem isn't Muslims our problem is Islam as classically understood - Sharia. This is what has always been the problem for all peoples over the centuries. There are many lovely, "moderate" Muslims but there is only one classical, orthodox Islam.
Here's a top Islamic scholar on Sharia. I could have quoted from among hundreds. So, who knows more about Islam? My lovely Muslim friend or this chap?
“Islam…‘is a complete way of life’ and at the core of this code is the law of Islam. … No other … authority is acceptable to the Muslim, unless it guarantees the application of these laws in their entirety. Any other legal system … is alien for Muslims.”
