I don't think you're going to quite believe this
The following English language video is from a Muslim conference in Norway 3 years ago. I have placed before the video button the text accompanying this You Tube video posted by Islam Net. Islam Net is a Salafi organisation that, as its name indicates, preaches a form of Islam modelled as closely as possible on the lives and practises of the prophet, the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs and the Companions (Salafs) of the prophet. That is to say orthodox, mainstream, historical Sharia. Salafis see themselves as a missionary and revival movement.
The good news in all this is - as Bill Musk, the former Anglican Bishop of Tunis in North Africa, with whom I discussed the issue a few years ago has stated - 90% or so of all Muslims are "Cultural Muslims". Meaning that they are Muslims due to upbringing and display a wide range of knowledge of and deference to Sharia, often mixing in many divergent cultural & religious beliefs with their own version of Islam.
So while Salafis do not represent a majority of Muslims they certainly represent authoritative Islam - i.e. Sharia, the perfect Law of Allah.
Which leads to the Bad News: such Cultural Muslims have little or no defence against traditional, historical, Sharia Islam when they are confronted with it. How could they? Sharia is the perfect law of Allah, the pure version of Islam based on Muhammad; the Qur'an and the Sunna. It is simply orthodox Islam, even as preached in the West. For instance, 3 studies over 20years have shown that 80% of American mosques preach exactly the Sharia teachings that this Sheikh and audience espouse.
It is this Islam that is most strongly propagated throughout the world and is gaining ground everywhere among Muslims. As we read the news we keep seeing Muslim countries tending towards Sharia or even adopting Sharia fully - Brunei for instance. We do not see Muslim majority countries are areas becoming more Westernised and liberal.
Further Bad News is that even such Cultural Muslims hold on to beliefs around apostates, adulterers, blasphemers, women and homosexuals which much more closely reflect Sharia than Western ideals.
How are we going to work to make these people fit our context if they migrate here? How many of them even want to try to fit? And even if they fit, what about their kids? Studies show that in Europe each generation of Muslim migrants are progressively less well integrated than the previous generations.
That's gotta be a problem.
In the notes they provide, note how they attack the media for misrepresenting ordinary Islam as "Radical" and "Extreme". They claim the media is making up stories about radical Muslim preachers to discredit Islam out of pure greed and Islamophobia.
Then watch and listen to the near universal approval given by these conference speakers and attendees of stoning of homosexuals & adulterers. This is depicted not as radical, extreme Islam but merely as Islam. As I've said, they have a great argument for this being exactly the case.
After the You Tube blurb is a button to view the question being posed (interesting in itself) along with the answer and a further response to the answer (6:39 in length). The next button is of a shorter version from MEMRI (3:26). The text of the MEMRI video will be placed below the fold.
Interesting study in victim mentality and also in how unashamed this group of Salafis are of Sharia - all of Sharia.
Here's the video's intro complete with its original convoluted logic. Definitions different to ours regarding the words "peaceful" and "radical" are employed.

When Muslim organizations invite Shaykhs who speak openly about the values of Islam, the Islamophobic western media starts murdering the character of that organization and the invited speaker. The question these Islamophobic journalists need to reflect upon is; are these so called ''radical'' views that they criticize endorsed only by these few individuals being invited around the globe, or does the common Muslims believe in them. If the common Muslims believe in these values that means that more or less all Muslims are radical and that Islam is a radical religion. Since this is not the case, as Islam is a peaceful religion and so are the masses of common Muslims, these Shaykhs cannot be radical. Rather it is Islamophobia from the ignorant western media who is more concerned about making money by alienating Islam by presenting Muslims in this way. Islam Net, an organization in Norway, invited 9 speakers to Peace Conference Scandinavia 2013. These speakers would most likely be labelled as ''extremists'' if the media were to write about the conference. But how come this conference was the largest Islamic Scandinavian International event that has taken place in Norway with about 4000 people attending? Were the majority of those who attended in opposition to what the speakers were preaching? If so, how come they paid to enter? Let's forget about that for a moment, let's imagine that we don't really knew what all these people thought about for example segregation of men and women, or stoning to death of those who commit adultery. The Chairman of Islam Net, Fahad Ullah Qureshi asked the audience, and the answer was clear. The attendees were common Sunni Muslims. They did not consider themselves as radicals or extremists. They believed that segregation was the right thing to do, both men and women agreed upon this. They even supported stoning or whatever punishment Islam or prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded for adultery or any other crime. They even believed that these practises should be implemented around the world. Now what does that tell us? Either all Muslims and Islam is radical, or the media is Islamophobic and racist in their presentation of Islam. Islam is not radical, nor is Muslims in general radical. That means that the media is the reason for the hatred against Muslims, which is spreading among the non-Muslims in western countries.
At an address delivered in English in Norway, Fahad Qureshi, founder of the Norwegian Islam Net organization, said that it was "normal" Muslims, not just radical extremists, who supported the death penalty for homosexuals and stoning for adulterers. When he asked who supported the punishments prescribed in the Koran, the vast majority of those present raised their hands.
Following are excerpts from the address, which was posted on the Internet on May 19, 2013.
We always try to tell them... I always try to tell them that it is not that speaker that we are inviting who has these "extreme radical views," as you say. These are general views that every Muslim actually has. Every Muslim believes in these things. Just because they are not telling you about it, or just because they are not out there in the media, doesn't mean that they don't believe in them.
I will ask you, everyone in the room: How many of you are normal Muslims – not extremists, not radical – just normal Sunni Muslims? Please, raise your hands. Everybody, with the grace of God. Okay, take down your hands.
How many of you agree that men and women should sit separately? Please raise your hands. Everyone agrees, brothers as well as sisters. So it's not just these "radical" sheiks, then?
Next question: How many of you agree that the punishments described in the Koran and the Sunna – whether it is death, whether it is stoning for adultery, whatever it is... If it is from Allah and His Messenger, that is the best punishment ever possible for humankind, and that is what we should apply in the world. Who agrees with that?
Allah Akbar. Are you all radical extremists? So all of you are saying that you are common Muslims, you all go to different mosques in Norway... Or are you a specific sect, like the Islam Net sect, or anything like that? Are you like that? No. Are you like that? Please raise your hand if you are like that extreme Islam, that sect, or anything like that? No one, Allah Akbar.
How many of you go to the normal Sunni mosques in Norway? Please raise your hands. Allah Akbar. What are the politicians going to say now? What is the media going to say now? That we are all extremists? That we are all radicals? That we all need to be deported from this country?
