...in under 10 minutes
Because hey, we're all busy people
Now I don't know all that Mr Sellner has said, but if this video is any indication then banning him from entering Britain because he represented a threat says more about the posture of the British government than Mr Sellner.
Here's a quote from the Independent on his refusal of entry:~
"When the purpose of someone’s visit to this country is to spread hatred, the Home Office can and will stop them entering Britain," a Home Office Spokesperson said. “This government upholds free speech but we will not let it be used to excuse detestable views that directly contravene our values. We take the threat from extremism seriously and we will challenge it wherever we see it.”
The article goes on to give a lot of space to a spokesperson from Hope not Hate who is appalled by this far-right chappie even trying to enter Blighty (but see here and here for some background on this "impartial" human rights group) while - of course - not having any comment at all from the hateful far-right Mr Sellner.
Everything & everyone is far-right. Far-right as far as the eye can see.
So, silly me, I have a question: If everyone who disagrees with the British government is far-right does that mean that no-one is far-right? If the government is so at odds with the bulk of its population maybe, as Bertolt Brecht wrote after the East Berlin rising in 1953, the regime "should dismiss the people and appoint a new one." (Wait - perhaps that is what they're doing?)
Also note how, after prohibiting Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer from the UK for their "far-right" views British authorities allowed in Muhammad al-Arifi who publicly stated:~
Devotion to jihad for the sake of Allah, and the desire to shed blood, to smash skulls, and to sever limbs for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion, is, undoubtedly, an honor for the believer. Allah said that if a man fights the infidels, the infidels will be unable to prepare to fight.
And they permitted this man entry not long after Lee Rigby was run down and hacked to death by 2 Muslims. Excuse me? So this man isn't "spreading hatred" and the holder of "detestable views that directly contravene our values"? What are you guys talking about?! This whole thing is a fiasco. It just doesn't make any sense.
Anyway, the evil far-right holder of detestable views is interviewed below and well, I don't know... seems to me to make quite a lot of sense. But don't take my word for it (I'm obviously a hate-filled bigot) have a listen yourself and make up your own mind. Maybe I should add "while you can" but I think most of you are aware by now that such a caveat is redundant.
Among other things, this young German addresses the decline of the West; the need to return to meaning; why so many Europeans are converting to Islam to find that meaning (a phenomenon I recall predicting on a prominent American Christian Episcopal leadership blog 20 years ago - I was pretty widely dismissed as a loopy at the time); and our current, great existential angst - he calls the current younger generation the "tragic" generation mired in boredom, cynicism & decadence arising from nihilism.
I don't know if Mr Sellner is particularly religious but I do think that Jordan Peterson would be nodding his head all the way through this, as I was.
IMHO it's a very worthwhile investment of 8 minutes.
