What Did Sen. Richard Black Learn In Syria?

A 20 minute video interview with an American Senator recently returned from a fact-finding mission in Syria. He makes solid points, some of which I have mentioned before. Of course if he was a guest of Assad then he will have no doubt had experiences tailor made for him to give a certain positive spin on that regime. Nevertheless this interview is still worth watching.

For instance he confirms that the West is (still) supporting the wrong side in Syria - the Sunni mujahideen - and has worked to defeat relatively secular regimes in Egypt, Libya and Syria. Why? Christian leaders in Syria have expressed satisfaction with the Assad regime's treatment of them - before and after the war commenced. The Senator confirms this. He discusses the supply of American weapons to the IS via Libya and American logistic support for the IS during the war. This fits the information I have seen. Staggering - again, why?

He expresses great reservations about Turkey's Erdogan as I have - here and here. Despite the spin he may have been exposed to on his trip (and despite the well-meaning Libertarian worldview of the interviewers) I still think the information is largely accurate and well worth considering.

At a time when all the foreign policy "experts" in Washington want us to believe they know it all, that what is needed is US force to overthrow the Syrian government, Virginia State Senator Richard Black traveled to Syria to see for himself what's going on.
